Founded in 2006, LogicMark’s main focus is on bringing innovation to medical alert systems. An attractive feature of the LogicMark medical alert systems is the microphone button, which allows the carrier to communicate and receive answer through the pendant, and not the console. LogicMark offers a great choice of different product variations. Besides the standard medical alert units, the company also provides personal emergency systems that connect elderly directly to the relatives or 911. Logicmark’s Freedom Alert and Guardian Alert 911 completely skip the contact with the control center, sparing precious time and money for the users, as this also means there is no monthly monitoring fee to be paid. The company’s website doesn’t sell its medical alert systems directly to end-users, but makes its systems available with well-known reliable online retailers such as Amazon.

LogicMark looks at the various needs seniors have in order to get independence and to feel safe, and supports them with the needed services to achieve that. The company’s personal emergency systems come with many additional benefits, giving elders the option to choose the most fitting service. LogicMark has two groups of base unit versions.

Standard systems

The first group is considered to be the standard group, which shows many similarities to other medical alert companies’ products. The Caretaker Sentry, Sentry Pal and Life Sentry system are all connected to a central station, where trained operators not only answer you calls, but also keep your medical history on file in case it is needed by the emergency services. If the seriousness of the emergency demands it, they alert 911 while notifying the people on your contact list. The pendant is programmed to check its connection with the home console on a regular basis, and sends messages in case of malfunctioning.

Freedom Alert and Guardian Alert 911

The second group consists of the Freedom Alert and Guardian Alert 911 systems. These buttons offer the possibility to skip the involvement of LogicMark’s monitoring center, and instead instantly contacts 911 dispatchers or family members when the emergency button is pushed. For users who have the communication skills to clearly explain the situation to an emergency service employee and who know how to keep their composure during an emergency situation, these kinds of services can greatly cut down the time needed for actual help to arrive. By touching the help button or activating the emergency call on the base unit, Guardian Alert 911 automatically dials local emergency dispatchers. Then the user is able to communicate directly to the emergency operator through the pendant.

Unlike Guardian Alert, which can only contact 911, Freedom Alert has the ability to be programmed with up to four personal contacts to call anytime. Freedom Alert’s base unit has three different modes the user can switch between. These indicate which group must be contacted upon activation: relatives, relatives and 911, or simply just 911. Freedom Alert enables relatives to give orders manually to the unit, as it’s possible to dial 911 while having the phone call, allowing an emergency dispatch to be triggered manually from their side too. This is especially useful if the senior falls unconscious while speaking with a family member.

LogicMark is a medical alert system provider that grants freedom from monthly fees or contracts. When choosing Freedom Alert or Guardian Alert 911, all you have to buy is the base unit, and after installing it yourself, they can be used without any other expenses. LogicMark Freedom Alert and Guardian Alert 911 utilize two-way voice communication, which is incorporated into the emergency pendant and not just into the home base unit. They are able to explain the situation and receive reassurance or advice through a small, wearable device. This way elderly can feel the medical alert help much closer to them, and no longer feels bounded to the audibility range of the console. The microphone button makes it easier to handle serious situations, as seniors can stay in place and don’t need to rush to the base unit to talk through it.

After pressing the help button on Guardian Alert, the unit automatically dials your local emergency 911 dispatcher. The pendant is waterproof and able to reach the base unit up to 600 feet away. It comes with backup batteries that can operate for another 24 hours in emergency blackouts. The device is compatible with both traditional landlines and VoIP lines, so you don’t have to worry about connection issues even if the home of your aging family member is missing modern communication forms. They even receive audible confirmations during dialing, shutdown, and system tests, reassuring them without the need to read small digital messages. The key functions to use the system, like the purpose of the different buttons, are also written on the unit with Braille letters for visually impaired.

Freedom Alert is a programmable personal alert system, which can dial pre-set personal contacts, not just 911. With the two-way communication feature elders are able to get in touch with their neighbors or caregivers, and ask for their help. This is ideal when they need minor assistance, for example a lifting after a fall. With a small lever you can switch between the different contact modes, deciding yourself the order of people to be contacted. In terms of range and equipment durability it shares the same traits as Guardian Alert.

Setup

Setting up any kind of LogicMark product is a piece of cake; a power outlet and an active landline or VoIP line are all that is needed for the unit to operate. The systems contain a helpful manual that accurately describes the process of setting up private numbers of your relatives to the contact list. You should note that while LogicMark Guardian Alert works with a power outlet, LogicMark Freedom Alert needs batteries. The base unit operates with rechargeable NiMh batteries, while the pendant works with rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries. All packages contain a set of these items, but after a few years you may need to replace your batteries for maximum performance.

Pricing

Sadly LogicMark doesn’t sell these products themselves, thus you must search for a retailer to purchase any of the systems. Visiting Amazon is the most recommended option, as they are LogicMark’s number one partner. Additional features, such as free shipping also depends on the retailer, although there is a place on LogicMark’s website where a warranty card can be filled.

As LogicMark doesn’t sell products directly to the end-user and drives business through channel partners, it is highly recommended to get in touch with the customer service in one way or another and ask their help about current prices and retailers. You can contact the company by giving them a call or by shooting an email to their inbox. LogicMark is present on popular social media sites, like Facebook or Twitter, posting regularly health related topics. Requests for assistance regarding the purchase of your system should be handled with Amazon or whichever other company you decide to purchase your LogicMark product with.

Bottom line

LogicMark’s Guardian Alert 911 is recommended for elders who are capable of staying level-headed during crisis situations, and know how to explain their status and medical history to the local emergency dispatchers. On the other hand, Freedom Alert is a great pick for seniors who may not be in an emergency, but often need support from neighbors, caretakers or family members. The one button press mechanic makes the handling easier for those who are not well-versed in technology. Both units have dependable range and two-way speaker built into the water resistant help button, not to mention the system test feature. This variety in the systems on offer makes that LogicMark has interesting options for every type of user looking to enjoy a safety net while living an independent life. Their focus on providing systems without monitoring services and recurring fees, along with eliminating direct purchases, does however result in more hassle when seeking customer assistance.

I do not reccommend this product, deatil on website does not give enough information to know what you are buying. Well I bought it anyway, when I called about my return they were so rude telling me that my return would sit there until all the other returns were processed and then mine would be done since I didn’t call first. Well I’m sorry there was 0 information in the package about returns so I did not know. I told thems that was fine I would be calling everyweek until I got my refund. When I did get my refund they charge a restocking fee. For such a small company and a company centered around the elderly you would think that would take that into account. Apparently NOT. So for the $17.80 I didnot get refunded this is the review I hope everyone sees. Make sure you read exactly how the sytem works and talk to them before you decide anything. Merry Christmas

Hi Laci Garrison, and thank you for your comment. We’re sorry to hear about your experience with LogicMark. When it comes to a situation like this, it’s best to discuss the terms and conditions with the company before signing up for a subscription. LogicMark has a shipping and returns policy on the website that states that all returns are subject to a restocking fee. Have a nice day!
